Recently I changed to a new job and a total new environment..
Yeah... the world did seem to suddenly explode with a whole new angle/ perspective.
I am dealing more with old folks with various degree of hearing loss in this new job.
Having seen and talked to a number of old folks and their families, I have really seen the other side of the world... the reality.
When human beings grow old, there are alot of problems associated with the eyesight, with the hearing, with physical movement, with understanding and reacting to other people.
I have met old folks enjoying life - travelling to exotic places, taking air balloon at the age of 70+ despite having hearing and sight problems!
I have also met an old folk fighting for recovery from surgery in the hospital...
Life is simply hard to comprehend as all individuals encounter different things in life.
There is one thing I realise.. those old folks who are rich, simply can afford to spend just to keep their lives comfortable. Those who are not rich, will live day by day just trying to maintain their health expenses till their last breath.
This, however, shows one universal rule:
No matter how rich or poor you are - Life after struggling through the youth days, mostly, is left to fight old age problems/diseases at the end of it. The big difference is that our degree of problems varies and the fortunate ones are those with very minor old age problems!
Come on... let's face it - Some of these old folks who are great people of their times, but when they are down with senile old age problems - it doesn't matter how great they are in the past, they still need you to take care of their very basic daily needs now. This maybe what will be happening to many of us in the future when we grow old...
Does it sound controversial to you on the meaning of life now?
What can you do?
Well, simply treat your parents, spouse, kids, families and best friends as nice as you can - because when we grow old, these are the only people who will stand by your side to take care of you. Never your boss, your work, your colleagues and definitely not your company!
Learn to appreciate life more when you are still at your prime time.
Because all of us are young once only.
Although I have encountered culture shock initially, despite having doubts on myself... etc.. I start to realise that I have now start to appreciate life on a new horizon...

Very insightful. Its true. Old age is something we ought to be prepared for, but it is also something not taught or discussed when we are younger.
